About
I am a writer and editor based in Brooklyn, NY.
The philosopher Meno — who, okay, I honestly discovered in a Rebecca Solnit book — once said, “How will you go about finding that thing the nature of which is totally unknown to you?” Yikes! A doozy. It’s the question we are all tasked with. How do we go about creating a vibrant life — and fill it with meaning, wonder, and stain-resistant fabrics — when we don’t yet know what will get us there? In my case, I wrote.
Since 2012, my professional writing has focused on relationships, sexual health and identity, culture, art, history, wellness, and humor. Admittedly, that is an eclectic mix (see my portfolio!). I like tackling reported articles, research-based articles, personal essays, and satire.
I’ve also spent over a decade editing for various New York media companies: Nerve.com, Dotdash Meredith, Static Media. I take great pride in shaping a story, developing its angle from the pitch, offering clarifying cuts, and bringing it all to life in a CMS. In my eyes, editing is not merely about correcting writing. Good editing puts a spotlight on the writer’s strengths while quietly minimizing the distractions.
I hold a BA in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a specialization in Creative Writing.
